The Kenyan Elisha Rotich won the Paris marathon at the age of 31 on Sunday in 2 hours 04 minutes and 23 seconds, while in the ladies it was the Ethiopian Tigist Memuye who won the race, in the absence big names in the discipline.

Thanks to this time, Rotich improves the record of the Parisian event, held since 2014 by the Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele (2 hours 05 minutes and 04 seconds).

Ethiopian Hailemaryam Kiros and fellow Kenyan Hillary Kipsambu finished second and third, 19 and 21 seconds behind the winner, respectively.

Among the ladies, a trio of Ethiopians won the podium in a pocket handkerchief, Tigist Memuye leading in 2 hours 26 minutes and 12 seconds, ahead of Yenenesh Dinkesa (2h 26 min 15 sec) and Fantu Jimma (2h 26 min 22 sec).

Thirty months after its last edition in April 2019, with two postponements and one cancellation in 2020, then a date set for the fall rather than the spring in 2021, the Parisian event has allowed tens of thousands of fans to find the Parisian asphalt under a radiant sun, subject to presenting a sanitary pass and wearing a mask in the starting area.
