The Swimming Federation revealed the list of girls who will participate in the Arab championship this month, and it includes three sisters, the twins "Mahra and Maha Al Shehhi", in addition to the little Mira, who will represent the country in the under-15 category in the championship, and Sarah Okasha and Alia Rashid, also participate in The 16-year-old category, while the participation of the heroine, Laila Al-Khatib, who is in a camp in Britain, has not yet been determined.

The tournament is scheduled to take place between the 24th and 27th of this month, and its competitions will take place in the Mohammed bin Zayed City swimming pool, and it includes the Sunni and public stages, with the participation of 230 athletes from 17 countries, and it is the first time that the Arab Championship will be held in Abu Dhabi in the swimming pool, which opened in December 2019.

The coach of Al-Wasl and Al-Naktahab club, Marwan Hafez, told «Emirates Today»: "The level of the three sisters is promising, and they are committed to training, and their mother is keen that they are not absent from any training, even during exam times, they are present on a regular basis, and they organize their time between swimming and studying."

He continued, "They started swimming in 2018, but a very big development occurred in their level, and this appeared during the last championship in Hamdan Complex, and I expect that they will have a wonderful future after two years, especially since they are young (13 and 14 years old)."

For her part, Maha Al-Shehhi said: “Since 2018, we have participated in many tournaments, achieved many medals, and are currently training at Al-Wasl Club, and at the end of the week with the national team, we know that the journey is still long, but we are looking to raise the flag of the state in various upcoming tournaments.”

Mahra said: "We participated in the IBEX Open Swimming Championships, which was held last week in Hamdan Complex, and in many races, the goal was a real test for the upcoming Arab championship, and we hope to succeed in achieving a medal for the country."

The younger sister, Mira, confirmed: "We were pleased with the great interest that we saw from the Swimming Federation in order to prepare us for the tournament, and God willing, we can succeed in the Arab Championship and win an Arab medal."

The Arab Championship will be held in Abu Dhabi from 24 to 27 January, with the participation of 230 athletes from 17 countries.
