He was expected by the whole female peloton.

Marion Rousse, director of the Tour de France Women, revealed on Thursday October 14 the details of the eight stages of the course of the brand new event.

The kickoff of this new "Tour de France Women with Zwift" will be given in Paris, on July 24, in front of the Eiffel Tower, for a finish seven days later at the top of the Planche des Belles Filles in the Vosges mountains.

This women's Tour de France will therefore start on the day of the arrival of the Men's Tour 2022 and then head for the east of France along four plain stages, two others with a hilly profile and two days in the mountains.

Curiosity of this first edition, the 4th stage will take the "white paths", the French version of the Tuscan Strade Bianche, that is to say chalky paths through the vineyards of the Champagne hills for nearly 13 kilometers as you approach Bar-sur-Aube.

And, symbolically, the competitors will climb the Ballon d'Alsace, the first pass climbed by the Tour de France in 1905, and will compete for the last yellow jersey at the top of the Super Planche des Belles Filles which will also be the finish of the Grande Boucle. next year.

France 24 gathered the first reactions at the end of the ceremony.

Marion Rousse, director of the Tour de France women with Zwift

Announced the previous Sunday, the revelation of the route as race director, Marion Rousse, did not have control over the entire 2022 route. However, she readily admits that the former runner that she is the would have loved.

"It was important to me to have a stage with white paths. I love these rocky paths as a spectator and commentator. They are always spectacular races. This stage will spice up the Tour de France Women because it will be necessary to be strong , good pilot and have a share of success.

This course is well designed because it corresponds to a lot of different profiles whether they are backpackers or sprinters.

And there will obviously be this last weekend which will be terrible and which is intended for climbers.

No stopwatch this year!

But, that does not mean that there will not be in the next editions! "

>> Tour de France: who is Marion Rousse, the director of the women's race?

There was a desire not to have a route that was too demanding for the public to discover as many runners as possible.

It's like with men, if we only use high mountains, we will always see the same ones in front.

So we tried to keep the suspense as much as possible, so the difficulty is increasing.

We're happy that girls like it.

Finally, the Planche des Belles filles is tough!

I've done it several times already and it's always spectacular to see! "

Audrey-Cordon Ragot, former champion of France

Still scars on the hands of the Dantesque first female Paris-Roubaix, Audrey Cordon-Ragot would not have missed for anything in the world the revelation of the course of this new event which, she hopes, will be a milestone in women's cycling.

"This 2022 course is a very balanced course where each of us will be able to express ourselves at some point. It was important that we have an open course so that we can discover a maximum of potential and as many runners as possible to win stages The last two stages are going to be daunting. I had already done the Planche des Belles filles, I'm going to discover its 'super' version.

To be able to wear the blue-white-red jersey (of French champion, editor's note) on this Tour de France, that would be just huge.

I regretted not having it for the first Paris-Roubaix so I will do everything to take my revenge at the next French championship.

I think that with my team, the Trek-Segafredo, we will take the start to win this Tour.

Afterwards, it will be necessary to see how the roles will be distributed.

The multiplication of Tours and our small numbers in the female peloton force us to distribute the roles well for each race because we can 'cut' less than the boys.

For this Tour, wish me a solo stage victory where I take the yellow jersey.

I would really like to wear the yellow jersey once on the Tour de France. "

Evita Muzic, reigning French champion

In June, in Épinal, in the Vosges, she surprised everyone by avoiding the return of the previous champion Audrey-Cordon Ragot.

Since then, the runner of the FDJ-Nouvelle Aquitaine-Futuroscope has taken on a new dimension.

And, despite a big fall during the final stage of the Women's Tour which still marks her in her flesh, she made the trip to Paris for the revelation of the course.

"I was keen to come even if my fall almost prevented me. It was something grandiose to discover the stages. My heart was beating at a hundred miles an hour as the course was revealed I am not really disappointed with the course with a final in my region as well.

Coming to La Planche is exciting.

On paper, that may be fine for me because I am a climber.

Afterwards, given that this will be the last stage, the riders who will play the general risk of wanting to win.

We hope that the public will be there as for the boys. "
