The footballers of VfL Wolfsburg easily won their first home game in the Champions League group stage.

The German cup winners defeated the underdog Servette FC Chenois from Switzerland 5-0 (3-0) on Wednesday evening.

Svenja Huth brought the Wolfsburg women in front of 869 spectators in the 18th minute.

Two goals by Tabea Waßmuth (26./43.) Made things clear before the break.

In the second half, the two Dutch women Dominique Janssen (51st) and Joelle Smits (68th) met for VfL.

The Champions League winners from 2013 and 2014 had already impressed in their first group game against last year's finalists FC Chelsea (3: 3). However, the Wolfsburg women are not among the closest favorites this season. On the one hand, the team of the new coach Tommy Stroot is in a state of upheaval. On the other hand, three important players - Ewa Pajor, Alexandra Popp and Pia-Sophie Wolter - will be out for several months due to severe knee injuries.

The women of Paris St-Germain also defeated WFC Zhytlobud from Ukraine 5-0.

The Canadian Jordyn Huitema, partner of Bayern star Alphonso Davies, managed a hat trick in the first half.

The 20-year-old scored in the 25th, 32nd and 42nd minutes.

The other goals were contributed by Paulina Dudek (59th) and Lea Khelifi (88th).

The German national player Sara Däbritz was replaced after 65 minutes.
