International David Brooks (24) from Wales has Hodgkin's disease, a form of lymphoma.
That reports his club Bournemouth, which plays in the Championship.
"AFC Bournemouth can confirm that midfielder David Brooks has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease," the club's management said on Wednesday.
"He left the Wales national team last week and has been medically diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease (grade II). As a result, David will undergo treatment next week after an initial positive prognosis."
Brooks addressed Bournemouth fans directly in a personal message.
“This is a very difficult message for me to write. While this comes as a shock to me and my family, the prognosis is positive and I am confident that I will make a full recovery and be able to play again as soon as possible. "
Brooks played seven league games this season with Bournemouth, the Championship leader.
He has played for the national team in 21 international matches so far and was also active at the European Championships this summer. Keywords: international david brooks, disease, bournemouth, wales, prognosis, lymphoma, form, club, hodgkin, management, championship, lymphoma., hodgkin's disease, fans, result
