But Janne Andersson's men bounced back in the days, beating Kosovo with a comfortable 3-0 and then taking revenge against Greece and winning 2-0.

This means that Sweden is number one in World Cup qualifying group B, consisting of five teams, with 15 recorded points.

Just behind is Spain on 13 points.

Third is Greece with 9 points.

First place means qualification for the World Cup and second place means playoff.

Sweden and Spain compete for first and second place respectively.

Greece have a theoretical chance to get into the fight, but the team needs to win its last two matches while conceding eight goals.

Then there will be direct qualification

For Sweden to take first place - and thus a direct ticket to the World Cup - the national team needs to win against Georgia and play a draw away against Spain.

What happens if Sweden and Spain end up on the same score?

This in turn determines:

1. Goal difference in the group game.

2. Most goals scored in the group stage.

Most points in mutual meetings.

4. Difference in mutual meetings.

5. Most number of goals scored in mutual meetings.

6. If it is between two teams: away goals will be worth twice as much.

7. Fair Play

A yellow card - 1 minus point

Two yellow cards / indirect expulsion - 3 minus points

Direct red card - 4 minus points

Yellow card and direct red card - 5 minus points

8. Draw

This happens if Sweden finishes second and gets to play the playoffs

The ten group runners-up, together with the two best group winners in the Nations League who did not win or came second in their World Cup qualifying group, play a playoff of three places in the 2022 World Cup.

The twelve teams are drawn into three groups, where the four teams meet in semifinals (single meetings) and in a decisive final.

The matches will be played in March 2022.
