Queiroz praises Egypt players after a big win in Libya

New Egypt coach Carlos Queiroz praised his players after their 3-0 win away to Libya in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, yesterday, Monday, and they are close to reaching the decisive role.

Queiroz scored his second victory with Egypt against Libya, after a 1-0 victory in Alexandria last Friday, to raise the team's tally to ten points from four games, four points ahead of the losing team before the last two rounds of the qualifiers.

Egypt needs three points to secure the group's lead.

"The team played very well and we deserved to win with a result greater than that," Queiroz told reporters.

He added, "I did not do any magical things in the Egyptian team. The spirit was already in the hearts of the players. They were able to free themselves more."

The first half ended with Egypt advancing with goals from Ahmed Fattouh and Mostafa Mohamed, before captain Mohamed Salah scored the third goal for fellow substitute Ramadan Sobhi.

"I want to congratulate the players for what they did and for carrying out the coach's instructions," the Portuguese coach said. "We want to stay on top until the end.

"We still have a lot of work to do to reach the level we all hope for. We won, scored many goals and played well. Now the challenge is to improve."

The top ten teams from the groups qualify for the decisive round of qualifiers, and bilateral confrontations will be held after drawing a lottery, and the winning teams will qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.
