Lebanon snatches a precious victory from Syria... and revives its hopes of qualifying for the World Cup

The Lebanese national team defeated its Syrian counterpart 3/2 in the Jordanian capital, Amman, today, in the Asian qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup, for the first group.

At King Abdullah II Stadium, Omar Khirbin advanced with a goal for Syria in the 20th minute, but Muhammad Jalal Kadouh responded with two goals to Lebanon in the last seconds of the first half.

In the second half, Sonny Saad scored the third goal for Lebanon in the 53rd minute, then Omar Al-Soma scored the second goal for Syria in the 65th minute.

The victory raised Lebanon's tally to five points in third place, while Syria remained in last place with one point.
