After Kylian Mbappe's controversial goal gave France victory against Spain in the Nations League final, there was widespread protest against the goal-calculating decision and the rules that supposedly justified it.

The Spanish players remained in a state of disbelief and the fans were trying to understand what happened and how the "Video Technology" (VAR) did not intervene to cancel the goal scored in the last minutes of the confrontation that ended with France's 2-1 victory over Spain.

And the Spanish newspaper “Marca” indicates that some believe that the decision was in accordance with the rules, while others disagree, but everyone is united that such a decision must be taken, that the goal be canceled due to offside and if the rules need to be changed so be it.

General confusion cannot be a good sign and obviously something must be done to prevent future situations, like this one, because clarity and realism are required in football.

"A defender can never go out of the way," Spain defender Eric Garcia said, with some - including the referee - believing that Mbappe was not offside because Barcelona's central defender touched the ball when trying to block Mbappe.

The only thing that is certain is that no one is completely sure that the decision made by the referee is correct, but if it is, then this may not be the correct rule.

stupid base

Former French referee Bruno Derain believes it was no fault of the referee, but it is a rule that needs to be considered.

Derin said - in a radio interview - "We can say that this goes against the spirit of the game. This is a stupid rule. It is not an arbitration error, it is a disastrous rule and perhaps it should be changed."

Other commentators, experts and analysts from around the world have shared that such a goal should not be counted.

This is a sense of injustice, even among neutrals, and it would be wise to make the rules clearer and simpler.
