The organizing committee of the Dubai International Marine Club has chosen the Dubai Water Canal to host the great race. The race will be held in front of the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary and along the Al Jaddaf Walkway. The race will start for a distance of more than two kilometers from the depth of the canal towards the finish line opposite Festival City at the entrance to Dubai Creek.

The Dubai International Marine Club launched the local 30-foot rowing boat competitions for the first time on March 7, 1997. The first race witnessed the participation of 15 boats, and the first place was crowned by the boat Fateh Al Maeen 2, led by the sailor Khalifa Ali Al Nazar.
