Athletes said that the start of the ADNOC Professional League this season is the weakest in the history of the competition, which contributed significantly to the negative impact of the level of the national team, and thus appeared on its results in the Asian qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.

In an interview with "Emirates Today", they stressed that five main factors led to the humble beginning, including the poor late preparation of the clubs, the long vacations that players obtained, the absence of important and distinguished deals, whether for locals or foreigners, and the decline in the level of foreigners, in addition to the start of the league in the middle August, and less time for training due to the high heat and humidity.

Since the start of professionalism in the 2008-2009 season, the six rounds of the current season are considered the lowest scoring with only 108 goals.

The indicators were clear through the drop in the level of the leading teams significantly, and the lack of clarity of vision for the league champion after six rounds, muscle strain and many injuries, and at the national team level one goal scored by Ali Mabkhout in three matches, and the harvest of two points in the qualifiers, despite the presence of stars such as Mabkhout and Caio. Lima, Tigali and others.

The athletes stressed that the fatigue that appeared on the players in the first rounds negatively affected the team as well, especially that Dutch coach Marvik bet on the players’ readiness through the preparation camps of their clubs, and through the league matches, so he preferred not to establish long camps, and without friendly matches.

The team paid the price for this by declining the level, and consequently, it exited with only two points in the first three rounds of the qualifiers, with two draws against Lebanon and Syria, and finally a 1-0 loss against Iran.

The former supervisor of the UAE national team, Hassan Suhail, said that he had hoped that the start of the league would be postponed in order to prepare the team strongly, but this did not happen in addition to the absence of distinguished deals.

He said: There was no good preparation for the clubs, whether internally or externally, and the deals are normal, while the team spent only a week, which is not enough to prepare for the most important stage of the qualifiers.

This is a mistake from the management of clubs and teams. I was hoping that the early start of the league would be sacrificed until October to make room for the team.

He added: "There was no vision or a clear plan in preparing the team in an optimal way, and the evidence is what happened against Syria, Lebanon and Iran. All indicators confirmed the weak start, and therefore a number of the team's players were affected, which was reflected in the results of Al-Obeid."

The director of the beach team, Badr Hareb, said that all the league teams did not reach the required readiness, and continued, "I am surprised by this weak start, because the opportunity was perfect for a better preparation than last season."

He added: “The foreign players were not at the level, the deals are weak, injuries and muscle tension are evidence that the teams are not well prepared. In one of the weakest rounds of the championship in the professional era.”

Technical analyst Khaled Obeid considered that poor preparation is the main reason, in addition to the negative impact of high temperatures and humidity at the time of training, so the players did not get their right and time in training during this period.

He said: “Most of the clubs prepared internally and relied on morning and evening training and in the halls, but in general there was a significant impact on the time of training and between getting rest. And humidity, which negatively affected the players, in addition to the weak contracts of a large number of clubs at the level of foreign players and residents.”
