The first race of the three major university relay road races, "Izumo All Japan University Ekiden," was held in Shimane Prefecture, and Tokyo International University won the first victory in its first appearance.

This tournament is called the three major relay road races of the university together with "All Japan University Ekiden" and "Hakone Ekiden", and was canceled last year due to the influence of the new coronavirus, so it was held for the first time in two years.

The race was held on a 45.1km course with 6 sections from the front of Izumo Taisha Shrine in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture to the front of Izumo Dome, and 20 teams participated this year.

Tokyo International University, which participated for the first time, was in the third ward, which is the second longest distance away, and when third-year student Ken Tansho took the lead after 2 kilometers, he quickly pulled away from the rest.

Tokyo International University continued to maintain the top position with stable running, and in the last 6 wards, Kenya's international student Yegon Vincent showed a section prize run, nearly 2 minutes behind 2nd place, 2 hours 12 seconds. He won his first victory with a time of 10 minutes and 10 seconds.

Aoyama Gakuin University, which moved up two places with an anchor, followed in 2 hours 14 minutes 7 seconds, and Toyo University, where the first grader's fast running was shining, came in 3rd place.

Kokugakuin University, which won the previous championship, was 4th, and Komazawa University, who won the Hakone Ekiden this year and was nominated for the championship, was 5th.
