Hertha Berlin will demand that its players and staff who refuse to be vaccinated pay for their own Covid-19 tests in the future, the Bundesliga club confirmed on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for the club told AFP affiliate SID that members of the workforce or technical staff who are not vaccinated against the coronavirus will soon have to pay for their own PCR test, which costs around € 70 per unit.

According to German Football League rules, players have to undergo a PCR test twice a week, but Hertha has their staff tested six times a week.

The club's sporting director, legend Fredi Bobic, told German daily

Bild

that “90%” of players and staff are vaccinated.

Hertha has already been quarantined twice this year due to the start of an epidemic outbreak within it.

In the Bundesliga, 82% of players would also be vaccinated.

At the end of last season, the clubs of the first and second divisions had to quarantine themselves to end the season without risk of contracting the virus.
