Skellefteå AIK started against Tammerforslaget Tappara after two straight 4-0 wins in the SHL.

Now it was the CHL that mattered, the tournament where Skellefteå won two matches against Eisbären Berlin and lost two against HC Lugano in August and September.

Skellefteå was third in the group before the match and Tappara first after four victories;

the two best teams in the group advance in the CHL.

Good start for Skellefteå

It was the people of Västerbotten who started best.

After just over seven minutes, Adam Wilsby threw the puck into goal and hit German Stefan Loibl;

the puck looked into Tapparakassen - 1-0 to Skellefteå.

Now there was speed on Tappara, who created several goal chances, but Gustaf Lindvall resisted well in Skellefteå's goal.

After just over 17 minutes, however, Lindvall was forced to capitulate - 1-1 to Tappara after a goal by Patrik Virta.

Two magical minutes

Skellefteå's reply came faster than a wrist shot.

Seven seconds after the equalizer, Albin Sundsvik scored 2-1 after Tappara was careless.

Now Joakim Lindström, 37, also woke up to life: First he twisted the puck and put 3-1 on his own return, just 36 seconds after the 2-1 goal.

48 seconds later it was time again: Jonathan Pudas took a lap in Tappara's zone and served Lindström who scored his second goal of the evening.

Three goals in just under two magical minutes for Skellefteå.

Lindström continued to excel

And Lindström had far from slowed down;

after just over three minutes of the second period, he served Adam Wilsby who slammed in 5-1 for the home team.

A few minutes later it was time again: Lindström stole the puck and scored his third goal of the evening.

Skellefteå had no problems playing the match and eventually won 6-1 after Gustaf Lindvall made some nice interventions in the box.

Skellefteå meets Tappara again in Tampere in the last group game round on 12 October.
