Destro was holding a bottle while taking a break for a few seconds, but he was surprised by the ball running towards him to seize the opportunity with a quick attack without leaving the water bottle that remained in his hand, and scored a wonderful world goal, the referee calculated it without any hesitation, and Destro justified his action in a statement to the "Football Italy" website, saying : "I was having a cramp. I was tired, so I didn't know where to put the bottle, and I kept it in my hand."

For his part, the former Emirati World Cup referee Issa Darwish confirmed that the case was controversial, as referees and experts in football laws were divided. From the opposing team during the game,” he explained: “It happened in football fields that the player loses his shoe during the game or the shin guard (the breaker) falls from it, but what made the case controversial is that the water bottle is not from the players’ equipment, and therefore the case constituted a great controversy.”

He added, "Personally, I will go with the referee's decision to calculate the goal, as there was no danger to the opposing player while the player picked up the water bottle."
