Champions League winners Chelsea FC suffered their first defeat of the season on matchday 6 of the English Premier League.

In the top match against football champions Manchester City, the Londoners, trained by Thomas Tuchel, lost 1-0 (0-0) at home on Saturday.

In the tactical game at Stamford Bridge, Gabriel Jesus scored the goal for the guests in the 53rd minute.

With the win, Man City drew level with Chelsea on points in the table, but overtook the competition because of the better goal difference.

Defeat for United

After both coaches had spared a few regulars in the league cup during the week, Tuchel and Pep Guardiola largely relied on their respective best line-ups.

The German international Timo Werner, who scored in the league cup against Aston Villa (4: 3 nE), was allowed to play alongside Romelu Lukaku at Chelsea from the start, while his DFB colleague Kai Havertz initially sat on the bench.

The former Leverkusen player came into play after an hour for N'Golo Kanté.

Man City coach Guardiola achieved the first win against Tuchel in the new edition of the Champions League final since the German took over as coach of the Blues at the beginning of the year.

In the FA Cup, the Premier League and the final of the premier class, Tuchel had prevailed against his coaching colleague.

In the parallel game, Manchester United and superstar Cristiano Ronaldo suffered a surprising home defeat against Aston Villa.

Against the team from Birmingham it set a 0-1 (0-0) at the Old Trafford stadium with a late goal from Kortney home (88th minute).

Bad luck for Manchester United: Bruno Fernandes (90 + 3) missed a penalty in stoppage time.
