The Fraport Skyliners signed Brancou Badio three days before the start of the basketball Bundesliga season.

The 22-year-old Senegalese, nicknamed “Papi”, comes from FC Barcelona and received a contract in Frankfurt until the end of the season with the option of another season.

"We're gaining an exciting player who has a lot of potential," said sports manager Marco Völler.

The versatile builder and winger was "discovered and recruited" in the fifth Spanish league by the new Skyliners coach Diego Ocampo, who was once part of the FC Barcelona coaching staff. Badio is a "very good athlete with an incredible attitude," says Ocampo. The international played eight league games for Barcelona and twice in the Euroleague.

Mainly Badio acted in the second Spanish division, in which he came for Barcelona in 28 games in the preseason to 10.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.

At the African Cup of Nations, in which Senegal reached third place this summer, Badio achieved throwing rates of 51.4 percent from the two-man range and 40.6 percent from the three-point range in six games.

“Brancou is very fast, plays very well in one-on-one and pick and roll.

He's also a very complete defender, ”said Ocampo.

The Frankfurters receive Braunschweig on this Sunday (3 p.m.) to kick off the season.
