The German Football Association (DFB) has found a successor for U21 national coach Stefan Kuntz.

Long-time assistant coach Antonio Di Salvo (42) has a contract until 2023. Hermann Gerland (67) will act as assistant coach.

The DFB announced this after a digital meeting of the Presidium on Thursday.

“Our common goal is to continue the successful path of the U21 national team and to bring in my own ideas.

This includes both the sporting successes and the further development of the players on the pitch and outside of our heartfelt campaigns, ”said Di Salvo.

Under the direction of Kuntz, the German U21 team had recently reached the European Championship finals three times in a row and won the title twice.

The 58-year-old had switched to the Turkish association as coach of the senior national team.
