Since Naomi Osaka withdrew from this year's French Open in the middle of the tournament, she has on several occasions said that she suffers from mental illness and that the press from the media, among others, has a negative effect on her.

At the US Open in early September, she went out against 18-year-old Leylah Fernandez and after that she said she was considering taking a break from tennis.

- Honestly, I do not know when I play my next match.

"I think I should take a break," she said with tears in her eyes.

Now she confirms that this will be the case.

She has withdrawn her registration for a tournament in Indian Wells in October.

The tournament is one of the larger non-grand slam tournaments.

The 23-year-old Japanese won the same tournament in 2018 and then it was her first victory on the WTA tour.
