The fan violence that currently affects French football has increased since their return to the stadiums.

On September 22 alone, there were three incidents.

What solutions to stop these overflows?

Europe 1 asked the question to Sacha Houlié, LREM deputy, who worked on the issue of violence in sport.

INTERVIEW

It is starting to become a bad habit among football fans this season.

Each day of the Ligue 1 championship is accompanied by its share of incidents.

There was Montpellier-Marseille on August 8, Nice-Marseille on August 22, Lens-Lille on September 18.

And the list grew even longer this Wednesday, September 22.

For the seventh day of Ligue 1, three separate incidents broke out.

Chronology of incidents

The first took place on the road to the Mosson stadium in Montpellier.

A bus of Bordeaux supporters was the target of projectiles.

Sixteen people were injured, including six hospitalized.

The second incident took place at the Saint Symphorien stadium, during the Metz-PSG match.

The stormy meeting on the ground ended with the arrival on the lawn of several dozen supporters of Metz after the final whistle.

Finally, the last clash between supporters of Angers and Marseille at Stade Raymond Kopa after the end of the match.

Projectile jets were observed from both sides and a fight broke out on the lawn.

The stewards were completely overwhelmed.

It took the intervention of the CRS to separate the fans.

The Professional Football League, for its part, says it will study this issue closely.

The disciplinary committee should meet exceptionally.

As for Lens-Lille, precautionary measures could be taken before an investigation.

The responsibility of football clubs

Sacha Houlié, LREM deputy worked on violence in the world of football. "We have all the legal means to bring the supporters to court," he explains at the microphone of Europe 1, recalling that those in the Nice-Marseille match were sentenced to six months in prison and five years of ban on attending stadiums. "For all identical behaviors, this type of sanction must be adopted," he said.

The elected representative also recalls that the smooth running of a match is the responsibility of football clubs.

“The insufficient number of people or stewards during Wednesday night's match between Angers and Marseille presented a great risk for the organization. There was also missing equipment such as protective nets. the responsibility of the clubs. When, ahead of matches, there are preparatory meetings, remarks must be taken into account. All of this is fairly predictable, "he said.

"We should be able to stop a match and not play it again"

For Sacha Houlié, the sanctions taken for the Nice-Marseille match were not included.

It would therefore be necessary to be even stricter.

"I was one of those who thought the game should not be replayed. And I think that's the right thing to do [in the future]. To fully understand that when acts of such a nature are committed violence, we should be able to stop a match and not give it to replay. "
