The European Championships in field competition will be decided in Avenches, Switzerland, September 23-26.
The field competition can be described as the equestrian sport's all-around game because it is decided in elements: dressage, terrain and show jumping.
Experts Lars Christiansen:
- The terrain moment is the most spectacular, most influential and weighs heaviest.
It has been related that it has the greatest influence, and so it should be.
But the best must be good in all things.
In dressage, you must be at least 70 percent to have a chance of a medal.
It takes almost flawless jumping and flawless in the terrain, says the expert.
73 riders from 17 nations are registered.
13 nations participate in the team competition.
Gallop track
This year, the championship is decided on a gallop track.
- An interesting concept that it is decided inside a gallop track.
A smaller area but it will be more manageable to follow the competition.
Interesting for the continued development of the sport.
It will be more flat and not so hilly terrain, according to the expert.

The expert on Sweden
The team's most powerful name, Sara Algotsson Ostholt, hopes for a medal in the team competition.
SVT Sports expert Lars Christiansen believes Sweden should aim for places outside the podium.
- I do not believe in Sweden in the medal position.
There are some new crews in championship contexts and they have shown varying form.
It will be good to get a championship routine before the World Cup next year and the Olympics in three years.
The World Cup is the first chance to qualify for the Olympics, so I hope that there is a thought of the European Championships to build before the World Cup.
- Algotsson Ostholt with Chicuelo has been a crew for a couple of years and it will be exciting to see if they can flourish in connection with the upcoming championships.
Otherwise, Malin Josefsson fights bravely and has younger horses on the way.
Sofia Sjöborg is a young rider who has just come out of her youth.
An interesting name for the future.
Favorites
- England, France and Germany are very strong in form and will be very difficult to challenge, especially England and France.
In the Olympics, England had the reigning world champion as a reserve, some say.
Hopefully, Sweden can compare itself with the countries outside the medal position.
