Invited Tuesday to speak on BFMTV about the serious incidents that have punctuated the Lens-Lille derby, the Minister in charge of Sports, Roxana Maracineanu indicated that she wanted to resort to "individual sanctions" against football supporters in the event of incidents, prompting the clubs to separate from the “aficionados” with whom they did not want to “get angry until now”.

"The League reacted quickly and severely and that is what must be done", she said, questioned on the conservatory sanction pronounced on Monday by the disciplinary committee of the LFP from a closed session in Lens during at least two games, while awaiting the investigation into the “serious excesses” of Saturday between Lensois and Lille supporters.

She urged "to forge a stronger dialogue" between football clubs and supporters' associations, advocating "moving towards more individual sanctions".

Put an end to the systematization of collective sanctions

"We must not punish a whole stadium, a whole group of supporters, because there are excesses which concern a few people in a stadium," she said.

"It is also necessary that the clubs dare to part with certain" aficionados "who bring a certain number of subscribers and supporters, with whom, historically, the clubs did not want to get angry", she affirmed.

"The paraphernalia of sanctions exists and it is not sufficiently activated, I will talk about it soon with my colleagues from the Interior and Justice, still it is necessary that there are complaints which are deposited", a she added again.

"We have to think together with the clubs, it is their duty to ensure safety with their stewards, the training of stewards, who may have lost the habit of being there (...)" she continued.

"Since the start of the season, we have deplored four games with such incidents", she regretted, which "spoils the emotions and the passion that the supporters were happy to find in the stadiums", recalling in passing that the state had helped clubs financially during the crisis, in particular to compensate for the loss of ticketing revenue.
