However, the head coach of the national team, Valery Karpin, at a press conference specially convened on this occasion, emphasized that by the beginning of next month the list would change greatly.

“Let's see from the experience of the September matches, how many people will come to the national team and in what condition.

Preliminarily, 22-24 players will remain from the field, plus four or five goalkeepers.

On October 2-3, we will gather in Novogorsk.

We will train there until the 7th, and then we will fly to Kazan.

Karpin explained that the decision on the goalkeepers was made by his assistant Vitaly Kafanov, and therefore he himself cannot comment on this topic.

“These are different opponents showing different results. We have carefully studied their September matches and received the necessary information. It is clear that we are not talking about teams of the level of France, England or Spain. As I said, Russia is neither stronger nor weaker. Slovenia and Slovakia are approximately on the same level with us. I am not going to single out anyone personally, ”the specialist concluded.
