The German cyclists passed a medal in the World Cup individual time trial in Flanders.

Lisa Brennauer and Lisa Klein, both Tokyo Olympic champions on the track, made fifth and seventh places in the top ten, but they were well behind the top of the world.

On the 30.3-kilometer flat course from Knokke-Heist to Bruges, gold was secured by Dutch rider Ellen van Dijk, ahead of Swiss rider Marlen Reusser and Annemiek van Vleuten (also from the Netherlands).

Brennauer was 1:05 minutes short of a medal.

On Wednesday the time trial mixed is on the program, in which Brennauer and Klein will again be at the start. The German team is considered a medal contender. The veteran and four-time individual time trial world champion Tony Martin will contest his last professional race.
