On Sunday morning, Tottenham announced that Jimmy Greaves, born in 1940, has died.

The striker belonged to the club between 1961 and 1970. During that time he managed to score 266 goals in 379 matches, and is thus the London team's leading scorer of all time.

The last time Tottenham won the league was in 1961, when Jimmy Greave's career was in its infancy.

Greaves was also part of the English national team that won World Cup gold in 1966. In total, there were 44 goals in 57 international matches.

Jimmy Greaves is most closely mourned by his wife Irene, four children, ten grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
