The “first medal” operation got off to a good start for the Ivory Coast women's basketball team, this September 19, 2021 in Yaoundé, in group D of Afrobasket.

The Ivorians, who are chasing a first podium in this competition, dominated Tunisia 69-49.

Awkward shooting, Kani Kouyaté (17 rebounds and 6 interceptions) and his partners were, on the other hand, impressive in defense.

Will this be enough to beat the Malians on September 20 and thus clinch a direct qualification for the quarter-finals of the tournament?

Guinea, far from the mark

First place, there is no longer any question for Guinea, condemned to finish last in Group C and to play a qualifying round.

Humiliated the day before by the Senegalese, the Guineans were this time dominated by the Egyptians 102-58.

Egypt will play first place against Senegal on Monday.

Finally, in group B, the Angolans gained the upper hand over the Mozambicans 70-61, while the Kenyans narrowly beat the Cape Verdeans 61-58, in group A.
