Jesse Lingard scored a superb late goal and goalkeeper David de Gea saved a penalty in stoppage time as Manchester United beat West Ham United 2-1 in a thrilling Premier League match on Sunday.

West Ham advanced with a goal after half an hour when Said Benrahma hit a ball that hit the foot of Raphael Varane and changed direction and entered the goal, but Cristiano Ronaldo received a pass from Bruno Fernandes and hit a ball that was saved by goalkeeper Okas Fabianski before the Portuguese striker followed it into the goal from close range.

But Ronaldo - unusually - seemed unhappy during the celebration of the goal, despite scoring in the third match in a row since joining United.

Substitute Lingard fired a massive shot into the top corner in the 89th minute against his former club, but West Ham were awarded a penalty soon after for handball against Luke Shaw.

Mark Noble participated in the last seconds to take the kick, but De Gea brilliantly saved the attempt to give Manchester United a thrilling victory.

Manchester United is second in the league with 13 points from 5 games, while West Ham lost its first loss this season and has 8 points.

Brighton's goals were scored by Niall Maupai in the 35th minute from a penalty kick and Danny Welbeck in the 50th minute, while Leicester City's Jamie Vardy scored in the 61st minute.

Brighton raised its score to 12 points in third place, and Leicester City's balance stopped at 6 points in twelfth place.
