ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon 2021 tracks revealed

The Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) announced the tracks of the third edition of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon 2021, which will be held on Friday, November 26, coinciding with the country’s celebrations of the fiftieth year. for the upcoming event.

This came during a press conference held yesterday at the ADNOC Business Center, in the presence of Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Andrea Trabio, ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon Director, and Kanan Abu Hamdan, Marketing Director of Nike Middle East and Gulf Marketing Group.

The schedule of races for the third edition includes: the individual marathon for a distance of 42.2 km, the double marathon / relay of 42.2 km, as well as community races for distances of 10 km, 5 and 2.5 km, in addition to the race for people of determination via manual bicycles, and this comes with the objectives of Encouraging all segments of the Abu Dhabi community to exercise and care for sports and make it a priority and a daily lifestyle, in support of plans to provide exemplary initiatives and actively contribute to educating the community and raising awareness of the importance and role of sports activities and their positive impact on health and fitness. and community well-being, and support national efforts at the state level to promote a healthy lifestyle and achieve Goal No. 3 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The total prizes for the event, amounting to more than 300,000 US dollars (1.1 million UAE dirhams), were also revealed, distributed across all categories, where the winner of the main marathon race from the elite men's and women's categories will receive $50,000 (183,500 UAE dirhams). For each, an additional prize of $30,000 will be awarded to anyone who breaks the current record set in the main marathon, which is 2.04.40 hours for men and 2.21.11 hours for women. Cash prizes of $8,500 were allocated for the wheelchair category and $11,000 for the 10-kilometre race category.

The ADNOC Marathon track starts in front of the headquarters of the "ADNOC" company directly overlooking the Founder's Memorial, while the participants in the community races accompanying the event start their race from 18th Street, which includes distances: 2.5 km, 5 km and 10 km.

After the starting line, all participants head across the Corniche on a path that winds around Qasr Al Hosn - one of the oldest and most beautiful historical stone buildings in the capital, Abu Dhabi.

During the race, participants will pass through the heritage village and the flagpole in the breakwater area, and then turn around the "Marina Mall" to reach King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street towards Qasr Al-Hosn again, and then return to the marathon finish line on the Corniche Abu Dhabi in the event village in the southern plaza of the ADNOC headquarters, while participants in other races finish the run on Street 18 opposite the ADNOC Reception Centre.
