Sweden started the semifinals in the best way.

Fredrik Lindgren, who recovered from the tough crash last Saturday, won and Pontus Aspgren took second place in Sweden in the heat against Slovenia.

There was also a full pot in the heat after against Finland.

But in the third heat where they met the USA, the first points loss came.

Fredrik Lindgren got off to a good start and drove in as number one but Aspgren had to fight against Luke Becker and Broc Nicol who both became too difficult.

In addition, he overturned just before the finish line.

However, he was quickly on his feet but did not get any points.

Aspgren without points again

For the next heat, Philip Hellström-Bängs took Aspgren's place and together with Fredrik Lindgren, who was responsible for a really good run tonight, he drove in a full pot against the Czech Republic.

Pontus Aspgren was unlucky to be persecuted this evening.

In the important heat against Poland, it hacked for the 30-year-old who got a stop and was without points.

Luckily, Lindgren took first place and together with Poland and Denmark, Sweden started to pull away.

The last heat where they faced Denmark was a real thriller.

Sweden needed to win the heat to advance to the final immediately.

Fredrik Lindgren fought against Leon Madsen for first place while Pontus Aspgren and Mikkel Michelsen chased third place.

Drama to the last

The last lap was a hot deal between Aspgren and Michelsen where they took turns to be third and both stood for really, really tough driving.

But in the end Aspgren managed to run in as third behind Lindgren in second place and Sweden was on to the final.

- We drive very well together and I am very happy for Pontus' sake who had two tough heats, Lindgren says.

Poland took a clear victory. Denmark finished third after a qualifying heat against the USA and joins Sweden and Poland in the final which will be held in Manchester on 16 and 17 October. The second semifinal will be decided on Saturday night.
