Chen Ning, Director of the Cultural Activities Department of the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, said that looking back at the birth process of the theme slogan, "condensed the love of experts and scholars for the Olympic movement and the expectation for a better world."

In May 2020, the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee initiated the solicitation and creation of theme slogans from five professional institutions, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Communication University of China, and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences through targeted commission.

By the end of September 2020, a total of 79 sets of works have been solicited, and then experts from culture, sports, Olympics, Paralympics, media, international relations and other fields will be organized to select and modify them, and finally 11 sets of theme slogans have been formed.

The similar characteristics of these 11 groups of alternative theme slogans are very obvious.

One is to reflect the concept of unity and common. For example, words such as "together", "world concentric", "comparable" and "shared" are often used in it; the other is to reflect the yearning and hope for a better future, such as "dream """Better"""Future"""Forward" and other phrases.

Coincidentally, during this period, the International Olympic Committee also added "Together" to the Olympic motto.

After repeated discussions and deliberation, "united", "together" and "future" have become common high-frequency words.

In the first half of this year, the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee finalized the theme slogans of "Together for a Shared Future" in Chinese and "Together for a Shared Future" in English.
