After Fabio Quartararo, it's Johann Zarco's turn.

The French motoGP rider, affected by compartment syndrome, will undergo surgery on his right forearm next Wednesday, said the Ducati-Pramac rider on Thursday before the San Marino Grand Prix.

“I'm going to have an operation next Wednesday in Aix,” Zarco explained during a press briefing in Misano (Italy).

"I had a good feeling with doctor (Olivier) Dufour who has already operated on Fabio (Quartararo) and who has a lot of experience in this area".

Zarco losing speed

Zarco will not miss a Grand Prix and will be present in Austin (United States) one week after the operation (October 1-3) for the 15th round of the year.

“Monday and Tuesday I was able to take time to confirm this diagnosis of compartment syndrome in the right arm.

Hence the decision to take the opportunity to do so as soon as Misano returns ”next week, added the 31-year-old Frenchman.

Second in the championship at mid-season after having climbed to second place on the podium four times in nine races, Zarco is now fourth far behind the leader Quartararo.

In four races since the resumption, his best result is a 6th place in Styria (Austria).

“This weekend I will be able to fight, in any case, even if it is difficult for the arm,” he explained, lessened by this muscular problem which affects many pilots.

In early May, Quartararo had been operated on, for the second time after 2019, for compartment syndrome.
