The traditional English club West Ham United have won a regular European Cup game for the first time in 22 years.

The Londoners started the new season of the Europa League with a 2-0 (1-0) win at Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb.

Antonio (21st) and England international Declan Rice (50th) scored.

Apart from qualifying games, the former European Cup winner West Ham last celebrated a victory in international business in 1999 in the then UEFA Cup against the Croatian representative NK Osijek.

Betis Sevilla recorded a spectacular 4: 3 (2: 2) win against Celtic Glasgow.

The Scots were already 2-0 in the lead after goals from the former Augsburg player Albian Ajeti (13th) and Josip Juranovic (27th / penalty kick) before Sevilla initiated the turnaround.

The Turkish championship runner-up Galatasaray Istanbul defeated Lazio 1-0 (0-0).

Lazios goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha made a curious own goal in the 66th minute when he slapped a failed attempt to clear his defense with both hands over the line.

For a moment, the Galatasaray professionals seemed to be hard pressed to believe their luck, then burst into loud cheers.

Unlucky Strakosha was meanwhile hugged and comforted by his teammates.

However, Lazio could not catch up with the deficit.
