Calle Halfvarsson's last winter was a long series of poor results.

20th place as the best in the World Cup and at the WC in Oberstdorf he only competed in skiathlon - and he never completed that race.

And for the coming season, he enters with a different summer behind him.

- It has been sluggish.

I have had to fight a lot and have been in pretty bad shape.

It's quite different from me, I tend to be in very good shape during the summer, almost too good so I have had a hard time keeping up with it until the winter.

It has started to feel better at this high-altitude camp that we are at now, says Calle Halfvarsson between the training sessions in France.

"Need to fight more"

What he especially trains for is this winter's big championship, the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.

And Halfvarsson does not expect any free admission to the Olympic Games.

- I will create a good self-confidence.

And then I have to perform to take a place (in the Olympics).

Because we have such a strong team now and I will not be able to slip into a banana peel for a championship again.

Now I will have to fight more and perform to get to the Olympics, says Halfvarsson.

The 32-year-old thinks he will go on the Tour de Ski at the turn of the year, but has not yet discussed it with his coach.
