The Dutch baseball players reached the semifinals of the European Championship in Italy on Thursday.

The Orange squad defeated Great Britain 7-5 in Turin.

The Netherlands, which is the reigning European champion, will meet Spain in the semi-final, which had won 5-2 against Belgium earlier in the day.

Kent Blackstone opened the score for the British in the first inning, but the Netherlands took the lead in its own at bat via scores from Jiandido Tromp and Roger Bernadina.

The team of national coach Evert-Jan 't Hoen ran further to 6-2, but the British came back to 7-5.

In the remaining two at bats, the Dutch didn't let the lead jeopardize again.

Tromp was top scorer on the Dutch side with three points.

Besides Bernadina, Ray-Patrick Didder, Junior Martina and Calten Daal also scored a point.
