Despite a goal from returning Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United have botched the start of the new Champions League season.

At the Swiss champions Young Boys Bern, Manchester lost 1: 2 (1: 0) on Tuesday evening.

Jordan Siebatcheu scored the winning goal in stoppage time after a bad pass from Jesse Lingard for the Young Boys, who have been trained by David Wagner since this season (90 + 5 minutes).

Champions League record scorer Ronaldo had scored the first goal of the new season in the premier class (13th).

In addition, Ronaldo became a record player with his 177th appearance - on par with his former Real Madrid teammate Iker Casillas.

As can be seen in the photos, Ronaldo also took care of a folder before the game - this was hit by a shot by the Portuguese while warming up.

Manchester had to play for a long time after a red card against Aaron Wan-Bissaka (35th).

Moumi Ngamaleu (66.) scored the equalizer for the brisk Swiss - before Siebatcheu made the sensation perfect with the final whistle.

Four penalties and one expulsion

In the Group G game with VfL Wolfsburg, RB Salzburg did not make it past 1: 1 (1: 1) at Sevilla FC despite three penalties and 40 minutes in excess.

The German international Karim Adeyemi was fouled three times in the first half.

The first was missed by the 19-year-old (13th), Luka Sucic converted the second (21st), and Sucic shot the third against the post (37th).

Ivan Rakitic (42.) then equalized with a penalty for Sevilla.

Youssef En-Nesyri saw the yellow-red card at the beginning of the second half for an attempt to take another penalty with a swallow.
