• OL beat RC Strasbourg (3-1), Sunday in Décines (Rhône), at the end of the 5th day of Ligue 1.

  • At the end of the game, the main reason for concern about the Alsatian group did not lie in this new setback but in the unease suffered by Dimitri Liénard.

  • Evacuated on a stretcher, the Alsatian player has according to Julien Stéphan "regained his senses" when he returned to the locker room after the match.

At Parc OL,

The many distressing images of Christian Eriksen's heart failure on June 12 at the Euro during Denmark-Finland are still in the heads of all football fans.

So much so that when the director of the OL-RC Strasbourg match (3-1), Sunday in Décines, decided not to film Dimitri Liénard, frozen to the ground, some viewers feared the worst.

We were playing the stoppage time of this closing meeting of the 5th day of Ligue 1 when the versatile Racing player, who came into play just before half-time, collapsed on his own.

Several minutes followed before the stretcher came to evacuate the 33-year-old left-hander.

His teammate Alexander Djiku was fortunately the first to deliver reassuring news at a press conference, half an hour after the meeting: “He joined us in the locker room after the match.

He just told us it was uneasy.

He did some tests and everything is fine.

“Immediately questioned on the subject, Alsatian coach Julien Stéphan was more measured, when recounting this striking sequence of the match.

A solid victory tonight at home👌🏾😊!

3 points that do good in a magnificent atmosphere.

Focus on the next match, hoping that all goes well for Dimitri Liénard 🙏🏾 🔴🔵 @OL @RCSA pic.twitter.com/8DP0S1wq2V

“Dimitri felt badly on the pitch,” explains the former Rennes coach.

He was taken care of right away by competent people.

We were able to find him a little later in the locker room.

He recovers slowly.

I saw him for a few seconds, he was walking, he had regained his senses.

The doctor and medical staff will determine what to do with him tonight.

"According to Julien Stéphan, Dimitri Liénard was to return to Strasbourg on the night from Sunday to Monday, unless there was a last minute counter-order, alongside the entire Racing group.
