Djokovic broke down during the final

The Russian Daniil Medvedev put a stop to Novak Djokovic in his hunt for a real grand slam.

Medvedev won the US Open final the night before Monday Swedish time with the set numbers 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

Even before the final was over - at the position 5-4 to Medvedev in the third set - the tears came for Djokovic who received supportive applause from the audience.

- First of all, I want to apologize to you (Djokjovic) and all Novak fans here.

I know what was at stake today, said the Russian after serving home the victory in the match's third set.
