But on Saturday September 11, Emma Raducanu became the first British woman in 44 years to win a major tennis tournament.

The 18-year-old Briton won the US Open on Saturday 11 September, beating 19-year-old Canadian Leylah Fernandez in two sets (6-4, 6-3).
