Medvedev became the third Russian tennis player to win a Grand Slam tournament

Medvedev defeated Serb Novak Djokovic in the final of the US Open in 2021 with a score of 6: 4, 6: 4, 6: 4.

Before that, among Russians, only Evgeny Kafelnikov (Australian Open-1999 and Roland Garros-1996) and Marat Safin (Australian Open-2005 and US Open-2000) won in the men's singles category.
