The Swedish discus giant certainly threw "only" 66.49 meters in the final in Zurich, but that was enough to take home the victory.

The second, Slovenian great talent Kristjan Ceh, reached 65.39.

Ståhl's longest throw came in the first round.

This was followed by three straight misses before the Swede recorded 65.64 in the fifth round.

Even in the sixth it was a miss.

Ståhl - who defended his DL title from 2019 - had the two longest throws in the competition.

For Simon Pettersson - Olympic runner-up in Tokyo behind Ståhl - it was a tough night.

Pettersson finished second last after three failed throws and a best record of 63.68.

Now rest is waiting for the discus stars.

Earlier this week, Daniel Ståhl's coach Vésteinn Hafsteinsson said that Ståhl will train less in the future to save on the body in the pursuit of the world record, 74.08 meters set by German Jürgen Schult 35 years ago.

Ståhl's personal record is 71.86, which is also a Swedish record.
