On Saturday, it was clear that Swedish sprint star Linn Svahn will miss the national team's camp at high altitude in French Font Romeu.

The reason is the shoulder injury she sustained in Ulricehamn last winter.

Now the national team confirms that Svahn is forced to undergo surgery.

- It is a lousy timing but I have come to a point where a procedure is the only alternative to get rid of this.

It is a tough unwanted situation, but at the same time motivating to start up and do everything I can and a little more to come back even stronger, says 21-year-old Svahn.

"Favorable for the whole process"

The message comes with five months left until the Olympics.

An Olympics Svahn has already been selected for.

At the moment, it is unclear whether she will be back until then, says national team doctor Per "Pliggen" Andersson.

- We must wait for the results of the operation before we can comment on the continued rehabilitation.

This is of course an extremely stressful situation for Linn, but now we will put all the focus on healing.

She is strong and determined, which I see as favorable for the whole process, says Andersson.
