Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer share the Grand Slam record with 20 titles.
The latter two do not participate in New York due to injuries and now Djokovic can be left alone on the tennis throne if he wins the tournament in Flushing Meadows.
- I am very happy with the level of my tennis, says 34-year-old Djokovic according to AP.
The only disturbance at Arthur Ashe Stadium was a loud spectator, which Djokovic resented.
The spectator shouted when Djokovic was about to smash and he missed and lost for the only time in the match a game.
"He knew exactly what he was doing"
Djokovic, who stared out at the spectator, was present and talked to the judge about the incident and also brought it up at the press conference afterwards.
- That guy shouted for some reason just before I would smash at an important point.
He was doing that behavior several times and he knew exactly what he was doing, says Djokovic about the disturbing man.
If Djokovic were to win the tournament, he would be the first man to win any Grand Slam during the year, a so-called true Grand Slam, since Rod Laver in 1969.
