The stars:

For many years, the world rankings have been dominated by players from Asia.

But world number one and new Olympic champion Nelly Korda plays for the USA.

The big golf country in the west has five players ranked in the top 20, clearly better than Europe where Anna Nordqvist is at the top of place 16. The Swede climbed 38 places after the British Open.

Sagström is ranked 46th.

(See the whole law in the fact box under the article below)

Favorite:

USA.

Better ranked players than Europe and home advantage with a large audience awaits.

Game format:

Match play for three days.

Twelve players in each team.

16 foursome and best ball matches on Saturday and Sunday followed by 12 singles matches on Monday.

Foursome is played in pairs and the players hit every other stroke.

In the best ball, everyone plays their own ball, but each pair only counts their best result on each hole.

Reigning champion:

Europe won a thriller 2019 with 14.5-13.5 at Gleneagles in Scotland.

Norwegian veteran Suzann Pettersen decided and then put the clubs on the shelf.

The Swedes Anna Nordqvist and Caroline Hedwall were part of the team then.

If there is a draw:

Then the reigning champion must keep the dent.

But the Solheim Cup has never ended in a draw.

History:

Started in 1990 and has been played every two years since then.

The United States has ten victories, Europe six.
