As soda cups flew wildly at Sterling's exclamation of joy, his colleagues embraced Sterling, pretending to be drinking a drink, as they resolutely responded.
And it blew a bone storm.
England, who scored four goals in the second half, including Kane's diving header, defeated Hungary and went on to win four consecutive World Cup qualifiers.
The English Football Association has demanded a formal investigation by FIFA, harshly blaming Hungary, which was disciplined for racist behavior by spectators at Euro 2020.
