Every day, Anicet Mbida makes us discover an innovation that could well change the way we consume.

This Friday, he is interested in backup batteries for electric cars, which works on the same principle as backup batteries for cell phones.

As we have said, autonomy and the lack of charging points remain the two main handicaps of the electric car.

So to avoid breaking down, there are now portable emergency batteries (like for phones).

This is exactly the principle.

If you use one of these extra batteries, you know it's handy at the end of the day, when you're not sure you can charge your phone.

It will be the same with electric cars.

Except that the battery looks like a small trailer that we will hang behind the car, like a caravan.

It will easily double its autonomy since in the trailer, there are almost only batteries.

That is not very practical.

A trailer takes up space!

A portable battery too: it's bulky, it hangs down, it takes up space ... But it avoids being stranded.

Which is well worth a few concessions.

Colorado Teardrops, a specialist in trailers and mini-trailers, invented this emergency battery on wheels.

It is far from being the only one on the market.

There's also Zendure, best known for its high powered chargers and batteries.

Its latest model, the Superbase Pro, can power dozens of devices with 220 volts as well as an electric car.

The size of a suitcase, it is a little more practical (it can be stored in the trunk).

But since it's smaller, it will only add around thirty kilometers of range.

Which can be more than enough to complete a trip.

Ideally, it would still be to install more charging stations, right?

Sure !

This is why the government announced a target of 100,000 charging points at the end of 2021 a few years ago. Do you know where we are today?

At the half of it or in the middle !

Suddenly, this leaves room for opportunists who find solutions to prevent the battery from breaking us down.
