Milan striker Giroud injured.. and isolated at his home

Veteran French striker for AC Milan Olivier Giroud has contracted the Corona virus, his Lombardy club announced Thursday.

In a statement on its official website, Milan said that Giroud's test result "was positive for a smear taken at his home," adding that he was "in good condition, but he must remain isolated."

Giroud, 34, was not called up for the France squad that drew 1-1 with Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday in the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers, as coach Didier Deschamps excluded him despite being the second best scorer in the team's history after Thierry Henry, with 46 goals.

Giroud made a good start with Milan after coming from Chelsea, scoring twice during the 4-1 victory over Cagliari on Sunday at the San Siro stadium in the local league.

Milan added that Giroud "has not been in contact with the rest of the team since the match against Cagliari."
