Failing to have been able to attract Kylian Mbappé this summer, Real Madrid fell back on Tuesday on another young talent of the France team in the person of Eduardo Camavinga.

The 18-year-old midfielder is leaving Stade Rennes, his training club.

The Merengues paid an estimated sum of between 30 and 45 million euros (bonus included) for him.

There will be three French people in Real Madrid's workforce for this 2021-2022 season.

Raphaël Varane left for Manchester United, but Karim Benzema and Ferland Mendy are still there.

And the third Habs will not be Kylian Mbappé but Eduardo Camavinga.

If Real did not find common ground with PSG for the striker, an agreement was reached in the last hours of the transfer window with Rennes for the midfielder.

On Monday evening, information began to gain momentum in the French and Spanish media: the Madrid club, the Breton club and the young player would all agree to a transfer before midnight on Tuesday 31 August 31. , date and time of closing of the summer transfer window.

Revealed to the general public in 2019

when he was only 16 years old, with in particular a high-level performance against PSG in August of that year, Eduardo Camavinga had already aroused the interest of the Spanish giant.

Born at the end of 2002 in Angola to parents from Congo-Brazzaville, who arrived in France in 2003 with his family, the midfielder opted for the French selection in the wake of his outbreak in Ligue 1 with Stade Rennes. Camavinga first wore the Espoirs jersey at the end of 2019 before honoring his first cap with Didier Deschamps' A in September 2020 against Croatia.

After a first 2019-2020 fiscal year truncated by the Covid-19 pandemic, Eduardo Camavinga experienced a slower 2020-2021 season. “

We're not going to lie to each other, I'm having an average season. There are a lot of stockings, I didn't do everything I had to

”, he confided in May on the

Téléfoot program

. Blue then refused to "

hide behind age

". But despite less convincing performances than a season earlier, the player has maintained good odds.

With Camavinga's contract expiring in June 2022, this summer 2021 represented the last opportunity for Rennes to sell their player, who did not seem inclined to extend.

PSG were among the clubs interested, but it was ultimately Real Madrid who moved in the last hours to secure the services of the defensive midfielder.

Under the leadership of coach Carlo Ancelotti, Eduardo Camavinga will now have to be part of a team where there is no lack of environments and where a renewal is not useless with among others Luka Modric (36 years old in November), Toni Kroos ( 33 years old in January), Casemiro, Isco, Valverde and Ceballos.
