The Zamalek administration has two options: “resign” or withdraw from the Egypt Cup

Sources close to the Zamalek club said that the board of directors will hold a meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, to discuss the repercussions of the crisis of stopping the captain of the first football team, Mahmoud Abdel Razek "Shikabala", which was issued against him by the Egyptian Football Association.

Shikabala was suspended for eight months, with a fine of 500,000 pounds, after accusations leveled him of assaulting the president of the Egyptian Football Association, Ahmed Megahed, and provoking the fans after the Al-Ahly Bank match at the end of the Premier League football championship.

The sources added to "Al-Emarat Al-Youm" that there were voices raised by the temporary committee that runs the Zamalek club to withdraw from the Egypt Cup competition in response to the Football Association's position by trying to spoil the joy of its fans by winning the league championship, which has been absent from the club for five seasons.

The sources indicated that there were other voices within the temporary committee that advised the necessity of submitting a collective resignation to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, explaining the reason that the sports climate in Egypt had become difficult to deal with, and that they had performed their task to the fullest during the period in which he assumed responsibility for managing the club.

The sources added that the head of the temporary committee, Hussein Labib, rejected both directions, stressing that the club will take legal ways to preserve the rights of its player, "Shikabala."
