A wheelchair basketball experience event is being held in Koto-ku, Tokyo to coincide with the Tokyo Paralympics.

Centerpole, a general incorporated association in Tokyo, holds a hands-on event every weekend at a park in Toyosu, Koto-ku, in order to get many people interested in wheelchair basketball.



A total of 10 people gathered at the basketball court set up in the park on the 29th, including children with disabilities and children of healthy people.



Participants learned how to bend in a wheelchair for competition and how to place the center of gravity of the body while playing with a water gun after taking measures against infection with the new coronavirus such as wearing a mask.



Then, I was divided into two teams and experienced a wheelchair basketball game.



A third-year high school girl with a leg disability said, "I enjoyed playing with children of my generation using a wheelchair. I'd be happy if there were more opportunities like this."



In addition, a boy in sixth grade said, "I participated with interest because there are no people with disabilities around me. I enjoyed team play and made friends, so I would like to continue participating."



"Center Pole" is scheduled to hold a hands-on event in this park until the 20th of next month, and Tokimune Tanaka said, "Para sports do not have to be for people with disabilities. Together with them regardless of their disabilities. I want to increase the number of places where I can compete and make it a natural sight. "
