The Saudi Jeddah Federation signs Romanian coach Cosmin

Saudi Arabia's Al Ittihad Club announced today, Sunday, the appointment of Romanian Cosmin Contra as coach, to replace Brazilian coach Carelli, who was sacked after losing the final of the Mohammed VI Cup for Champions Clubs at the hands of Moroccan Raja.

The club published a picture of the coach through its official account on the social network "Twitter", officially announcing his appointment as coach of the team for one season.

The Romanian coach is expected to start his mission with Al-Ittihad, during the current suspension period, in which the Saudi national team is playing two matches in the final qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

It is expected that the first official match of the Federation under the leadership of Cosmin will be against Abha next September 11, after the league resumed with the fourth round competitions.

The 45-year-old has previously played for several major European clubs, most notably AC Milan and Atletico Madrid in Spain, as well as representing Romania in 73 international matches.

Kuzmin concluded his playing career, with the Romanian Politenica Timisoara shirt in 2011, before heading to the world of coaching.

During his career as a coach, Contra led many clubs, most notably Getafe of Spain, Guangzhou of China and Dinamo Bucharest of Romania. He also coached the Romanian national team between 2017 and 2019.

Kuzmin played 216 matches with various clubs during his coaching career, achieving 100 wins, 59 draws and 57 losses.
